
Printmaking at NGU
The Printmaking Emphasis leads students through the study of edition consistency within numerous relief, intaglio, and monotype processes. It also encourages the student to explore complex color systems as well as methods for combining a variety of printing techniques. The investigation is aided by a consistent emphasis upon the investigation of historical and contemporary approaches to the craft.

Courses:
Printmaking I - Exploration of Relief techniques as applied to one-, two-, and three-color editions.
Printmaking II - Involves a further investigation of Relief techniques within larger block/paper sizes as well as intermediate studies of color separation and combination. Single and multiple color Monotype processes are studied along with the options that ink viscosity offers to the technique. Intaglio processes are introduced and explored for the second half of the semester. (specifically, Etching and Dry-Point Engraving)
Printmaking III - Incorporates a further technical study within a chosen technique(s) with a special emphasis placed upon the development of a cohesive visual vocabulary which conveys information to the viewer.
