


Ceramics at the NGU Art Department
With an emphasis in Ceramics, you will explore a variety of techniques and materials. You will learn alternative processes for surfaces and forms, research the history of Ceramics, study contemporary artists in clay, and become familiar with the chemistry of clay and glazes.
Our studio equipment includes:

2 L&L electric top-loader kilns
Mixer and Pugmill
Slab Roller
Fully stocked chemical mixing station

COURSES:
Ceramics 1: Basics of handbuilding, wheel throwing, and ceramic history
Ceramics 2: Intermediate processes of wheel throwing, research of clay and glaze chemistry, and study of contemporary artists
Ceramics 3: Proposal and creation of technically proficient, conceptual body of work
Portfolio and Exhibition Procedures: Creation of final body of work to be presented to whole department.
Senior Seminar: Create a presentation for your final body of work
